Fruitful Food Drive

Even though this harvest season has been very long and stressful for area farmers, it hasn't deterred them from giving to others. During the annual fruit and nut sale at Peoria County Farm Bureau, Ag in the Classroom Coordinator Tiona Kimble arranged for members to drop off food donations as they picked up their orders on Wednesday. Not knowing what to expect, given the hectic schedule of the farmers, Kimble told Barb Shreves of the Peoria Area Food Bank that she would do what she could to help and hope for the best.
On Wednesday, as PCFB members came to pick up their fruit, they dropped off cases of food - literally! The PCFB Foundation, AITC Program, along with the Young Leaders group and PCFB members were able to collect 875lbs of food and $162 to donate to the Peoria Area Food Bank.
Tiona Kimble would like to express her sincere gratitude to those who participated in this event. Due to the success of the food drive this year, Kimble is hoping to make this a part of the annual event.
