Job Title: 2026 Summer Ag Literacy Intership

Job Description:    Create student learning material for 7 agriculture related topics to be used by educators in Peoria County 3rd - 6th Grade classrooms for the school year September 2026- May 2027.  Learning material should give students an understanding of products originating on farms and/or the importance of agriculture in the topic being discussed.  The program is reaching approximately 5000 students on a monthly basis.

Google Slides Classroom Presentations:  A Google Slide presentation is to be developed for each of the 7 topics that should include 10-12 slides.  The slides will be used by Farm Bureau volunteers and the Ag Literacy Coordinator as part of the 30 minute presentations.  The Google Slides will also need to be saved onto a flash drive as powerpoint presentations to be used as a back-up in the classroom.

Supporting Content: Material should be educational about each of the 7 specific agricultural topics and focused on math and science learning standards for 3rd-6th grade students. Content for each of the topics may include fact sheets, instructions for experiments, educational games, etc. 

Canva for Social MediaFor each of the 7 topics…create a generic social media post, an engaging teacher social media post, and a question.  The Canva social media creations will be incorporated into the google slide presentations and scheduled to post on the Peoria County Ag-In-The-Classroom Facebook Page throughout the school year.

Check-in Meetings with Ag Coordinator:  The summer intern will work with Jennifer Glover, the Peoria County Farm Bureau Ag Literacy Coordinator, to track progress and receive feedback.  Tentatively scheduled meetings and timelines for completion of topics are listed below.  These may be adjusted with Jennifer if necessary. 

Friday, June 12 --------- completion of September and October topics
Friday, June 26 --------- completion of November and January topics
Friday, July 3 ----------- completion of February and March topics
Friday, July 10 ---------- completion of April topic
Friday, July 24 ---------- final revision week and wrapping up internship

Article:  A ½ to 1 page article should be written and submitted to Jennifer Glover (agcoordinator.peoriacounty@gmail.com) with a deadline of Monday, July 6.  The article should give a brief introduction of yourself and the progress/accomplishments/experiences of the internship.  The article will be published in the July PCFB newsletter mailed to approximately 1500 “M” members.

Compensation: $1200 (The $1200 will be paid upon completion of the internship)

Other Duties:  As assigned by Jennifer Glover may include creating educational materials for a Teacher Summer Ag Academy.

Project Completion Date:  The project should be completed by Friday, July 24.
